85 year old driver in A38 collision with lorry dies

The elderly driver of a car that was involved in a serious collision on the A38 in January has died in hospital.

Devon and Cornwall Police report that the man has been named as Albert Roach aged 85.

The accident took place at approximately 1.50pm on 9th January on the A38 at Manadon on the eastbound carriageway. The collision involved a red Rover 420 driven by Mr.Roach from Plymouth and a Mercedes HGV driven by a 42 year old man from the Ashburton area.

The elderly man was taken to Derriford hospital and sadly died at home on 27th February.

A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death and a report will be submitted to the coroner.
