Argyle face tough encounter at top of the table Gillingham
Gillingham v Plymouth Argyle
League Two, Saturday 9th March at 3pm
Plymouth Argyle face a tough encounter away to League Two leaders Gillingham on Saturday. The Kent side are out in front in the battle for automatic promotion, while Argyle sit in the relegation zone, above bottom place AFC Wimbledon only on goal difference.
Victory at home to a resurgent Barnet team last weekend provided a great morale boost and three vital points for Argyle whilst Gillingham, who have led the division for most of the season, have stuttered in their last two games.
The Gills, managed by Martin Allen, lost at home to Oxford United last weekend and drew midweek at home to Aldershot. The Pilgrims will be encouraged by Gillingham's relatively inconsistent home record this season where they have lost 6 of their 18 games, while winning consistently on the road.
With arguably more pressure on the home team, John Sheridan's Argyle team will be hopeful of another strong performance and a positive result to further buoy supporters.
