CATERed wins local training award

Plymouth’s brand new education catering service CATERed has just bagged another award at City College Plymouth’s Annual Business Dinner and Celebration Evening.

The event recognises the investment employers have made in their workforce through training, and the continued partnership between the College and local business.

The catering service is no stranger to winning silverware for its food having previously won The Plymouth Food Awards: Food Champion 2012, EDUcatering Magazine’s Education Caterer of the Year 2013, The Nan Berger Award (LACA) in recognition of its customer engagement and relationship management in 2014, but this time it’s been award for its staff training programme.

The award recognises the exceptional training programme for their staff to ensure consistency of practice.

The CATERed training programme supported over 80 individuals, 52 Kitchen Managers (78% of the kitchen Managers) and 29 Catering Assistants (14% of the staff group) - an outstanding commitment from the company.  A further enrolment is planned for September where the rest of CATERed Kitchen Managers will be signed up onto the NVQ.

The College works to meet the needs of the business community and remain at the heart of business in the City. It does this through providing training at all levels to businesses, from Apprenticeships to higher-level skills, from off-the-shelf training packages to bespoke training offers to meet specific industry needs.

Managing Director of CATERed , Brad Pearce said: “We’re delighted and proud to have won this award tonight, we pride ourselves with having a forward thinking approach to everything we do.

“We know our front line staff are one of our best assets and we want to ensure that they are the best that they can be.  These skills that they are now learning will benefit not only themselves but also the business, schools and improve our service to our customers whilst also giving staff confidence to help schools with aspects of the curriculum.
