Procurement team shortlisted in national GO Awards

The Procurement Team at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust have been shortlisted as finalists in the Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement, for the Initiative of the Year Award for 2015/16.

The team have been shortlisted for developing a Trust-wide programme, known as the ‘Non Pay Programme’. Starting in 2013, the programme has helped to manage with inflation and has also helped to identify a number of cost saving projects/opportunities.

Andy McMinn, Chief Procurement Officer at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust said: “We are absolutely thrilled at this recognition, as the level of competition for this year’s awards has been extremely high.

“Although we won’t find out if we are winners until 26th February, achieving finalist status is a great commendation for our Procurement and Logistics team. It is recognition of the creative work that the team regularly deliver and it is this work that has improved the quality of our service and ultimately the care provided to our patients”

“This year’s chosen finalists have not only raised the bar once again, it’s set a benchmark that all those involved in public procurement within the UK should acknowledge, appreciate and strive for. This is our biggest awards ever and the standard this year was so high that the judges struggled to make the finalists’ shortlist.”

The GO Awards showcase the very best that public sector procurement has to offer – as a career, as a market sector and, most importantly, as a means of delivering more efficient and effective public services.

The team will find out whether they have been successful at an awards ceremony, held on Thursday 26th February 2015, at The Midland Hotel in Manchester.
