Alderman Tooling honoured with prestigious Lloyds Bank National Business Award

Alderman Tooling were named the Howard Kennedy Employer of the Year at the 2017 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards gala dinner ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane. This award celebrates the organisations seeing the best return on investment in people, and recognises employee strategy that best attracts, retains and develops talent.

Founded in 1969 by Bill Alderman, Alderman Tooling is a bespoke metal fabricator based in Plymouth which still remains in family ownership and management. Alderman Tooling offers comprehensive metalwork design and fabrication services to diverse markets (retail, IT, industrial, automotive) throughout the South West and nationally.

The judging panel commented; “Alderman stood out as the employer of the year as the business had a really thorough understanding of the skills its employees need – both now and in the future. The collaborative NVQ training is simply brilliant and not only benefits Alderman Employees, but other SMEs in the area. Karen’s work as a STEM ambassador is also strategically smart as it demonstrates the career path in these sectors and enables her to foster and encourage the next generation of employees.”

Over 1200 business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians and media representatives gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel for the 16th annual National Business Awards, and together continued the celebration of the Best of British Ambition. The Awards were presented by BBC Breakfasts Naga Munchetty and welcomed Mo Farah as headline speaker, as well as Secretary of State for International Trade, Dr Liam Fox.

Alan Rubenstein, CEO of Pension Protection Fund was named Keys Business Concierge Leader of the Year. This award recognises the personal imprint of the UK’s most high profile leaders and industry champions from the private, public and third sectors. The finalists were judged on their achievements as business leaders over the last 18 months, and their personal achievements in the course of their career.
