Celebrations all round at Plymouth Furniture Store
Customers and staff have been celebrating the opening of Furniture World’s new Plymouth store with Bucks Fizz, prize vouchers and discounts on everything in the store.
The new flagship store in Coypool has created 15 new jobs and boasts 20,000 square feet of shop floor space spread over two floors. It features a series of stylish room sets, stores within stores as well as a fabulous new home accessories department.
First customer to arrive was Carol Chadwick who found herself cutting the ribbon to officially open the new store.
To add to the fun, Radio Plymouth’s presenter Jon White broadcast from the store, picking four lucky winners who each won a £100 voucher to spend instore.
Meanwhile general manager Matt Nuciforo and store manager Mitch Kuhn found themselves in front of camera being filmed for local media on Facebook.
Finance Manager Ruth Kneller said the atmosphere was fantastic.
‘It was a great day,’ she said, ‘and a real tribute to the staff and the team who worked so hard for this moment. Our customers are clearly loving the new store. We’ve had great sales and loads of compliments on our new ranges.’
The special opening day discounts continue until the weekend.
Furniture World began in 1984 as a family business, selling furniture from a barn in Cornwall but it quickly outgrew its humble beginnings.
Managing Director Ryan Long said they could never get enough stock to supply the demand.
‘We soon realised that we were on to something,’ he said. ‘Bit by bit, we have opened stores in Redruth, Newquay, St Austell, Penzance and Plymouth, employing more than 60 people.
‘Key to our success has always been that the customer comes first. We try to offer the keenest prices on good quality furniture and as a result, our customers return again and again.’
