When it comes to working in another country, one of the trickiest parts can be knowing exactly how to interact with your colleagues, business partners or clients, as it's quite common for there to be differences in cultural and business conventions.

Viking Direct, the office supply chain company, operates in over 11 countries worldwide and employs over 1,300 people. The company conducted a survey of employees asking their workplace experiences around the world. From this, a guide to the the differences and nuances of business office conventions.

Some office etiquette's around the world include...

· In a German office, always greet the most important person first, then work your way down the hierarchy

· Saudis are often very relaxed in terms of timekeeping. Being late can be normal, so try not to be offended!

· In France, complaining is considered healthy and is absolutely acceptable

Viking's Ruud Linders states "As European Marketing Manager, I regularly travel to different countries. Each country I visit has its own little quirks and conventions, and that's what makes the world such a beautiful, varied place. Luckily, I usually manage to avoid putting my foot in it!"
