Burts Chips raises over £4K for charity
Plymouth-based artisan crisp producer, Burts Potato Chips, is delighted to announce its fundraising total for 2015 - 2016 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust of £4,175.28.
Burts multi-faceted fundraising efforts include participating in various local events, from the Great West Run and the Plymouth Half Marathon to the Cornish Santa Fun Run, as well as ongoing raffles, donations and spare change savings from the 120-strong team at Burts HQ – not to mention ongoing deliveries of the company’s legendary hand-cooked crisps to keep the ambulance crew well-fueled. It doesn’t end there, as 2017 will see Burts continue to support the excellent work the Devon Air Ambulance Trust does as one of its official chosen charities.
Devon Air Ambulance flies an average of four missions each day, helping nearly 24,000 patients since its first flight in 1992. The funds raised by Burts Chips will go towards keeping the two state-of-the-art helicopters flying in Devon so they can continue this vital operation – the people of Devon with around the clock emergency care.
Devon Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, Tracy Owen, said “We are extremely grateful to Burts Potato Chips for its continued support. As one of their chosen charities since 2014, Burts has held numerous fundraisers throughout the years and has raised an incredible £4,137.87. We are delighted Burts has chosen to support us again in 2017 and we look forward to supporting them throughout this year’s fundraising, and are relishing the opportunity to keep enjoying their tasty treats!”
In addition to this, Burts has announced its official partnership with Jeremiah’s Journey, a local charity that provides therapeutic support and advice to grieving children, young people and families in Plymouth and the immediate surrounding areas. The team will kick off its work with a Pancake Day challenge on the 3rd March for some flipping good fundraising!
Laura Goodchild, Fundraising Team Leader at Jeremiah’s Journey, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Burts Chips. It’s great to be chosen by a local company that has a national presence, who can see first-hand the work that Jeremiah’s Journey delivers in Plymouth. We are looking forward to working closely with Burts over the next 12 months to raise vital funds for the charity.”
David Nairn, Managing Director of Burts Chips, comments: “It’s a privilege to be able to support these local charities and we are delighted to have raised over £1,000 more than the previous year. Devon Air Ambulance Trust provides an invaluable service to the area, and Jeremiah’s Journey ensures residents have essential support during times of grievance. We look forward to continuing and developing our relationships with these organisations and feel inspired to try and beat last year’s total once more!
“I’d like to extend my thanks to all sponsors, supporters, Burts team members and fundraisers for helping the Burts team to reach this fantastic goal!”
