Empowering women through beauty and make-up

To Plymouth lady Sandy Rice, 72, age is just a number.

A proud nanny with 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a lifetime of experience, Sandy has been empowering women through beauty and make-up.

Sandy started to work for Avon, and eventually start her own business after suffering from ankylosing sponditis, a form of spinal arthritis that eventually causes a fusion of bones, limiting movement and mobility.

The condition caused her to lose confidence and her happy-go-lucky attitude.

Sandy's daughter suggested she become an Avon representative, and after becoming a representative, Sandy now has a thriving online Avon store.

Sandy said: "For older women, if you’re not feeling your best, I strongly believe that make-up can make the difference between a good and bad day, and just make you feel a bit happier.

"I feel so passionate about empowering other women, of any age, with the power of make-up and beauty, and, I’m lucky enough to meet and advise so many women on a day-to-day basis.

"Applying make-up in the morning is like getting up and having that first cup of tea. I put on primer, foundation, lipstick, mascara, eyeshadow and blusher every day."

Avon has given Sandy an opportunity to get back out there and do what she loves.
