Staff from LHC’s Exeter and Plymouth design studios have raised over £2,500 for one of the UK’s oldest charities, Devon based Hannahs.

The team of architects and urban designers cycled 58 miles and climbed 3750 feet of hills on Sunday, raising money towards a new £11,000 all-terrain wheelchair for the charity.

Twenty members of staff, including six of the company Directors completed the route, starting from the Exeter Design Studio on Exeter Business Park and finishing at the Plymouth Design Studio at Royal William Yard, visiting the two Hannah’s sites at Seale Hayne, Newton Abbot and Hannahwood at Ivybridge to be cheered on by the charity staff, volunteers and visitors.

LHC Director Glayne Price said: “We are really grateful to everyone who sponsored us and helped us to more than double our initial fundraising target. Every penny raised will go towards the new all-terrain wheelchair that will help Hannahs support more children and young people and allow them to enjoy the great outdoors.”

She continued: “The team did a fantastic job. It was a tough ride and I’m sure there will be some sore bodies this week, but the satisfaction in contributing to such a worthy cause outweighs the pain by far!”

The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust has been supporting and enriching the lives of children and young people for more than 250 years. The charity is dedicated to empowering children, young people and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, providing them with life-changing opportunities and advocating their needs.

Having the right equipment will make the charity’s vision a reality, giving visitors the chance to explore the rolling Devon hills for free and regardless of their disability, often for the first time.

Working across their two sites in Devon, Hannahs has a dedicated and highly trained team of staff to help students and visitors grow and learn with confidence and freedom.

Andrew Dean, Director of Development at Hannahs said: “We work hard all year round to provide much needed support and care to children, young people and adults with disabilities. The support and fundraising efforts by people such as those at LHC makes it possible for us to maintain our high levels of care, as well as enabling us to buy much needed equipment and extend our facilities and services. Thank you to everyone involved in this cycle ride!”
