Armed Forces Weekend on Plymouth Hoe from 25 June 2016 to 26 June 2016, organised by Plymouth City Council in association with Babcock, this year promises a host of great entertainment - including a thrilling evening concert for the whole family.

Highlights include popular headliners and show favourites the Military Wives Choir and, for the first time, the high-octane Red Hot Chilli Pipers, described as the most famous bagpipe band on the planet.
The Hoe site will be transformed with thousands of people expected to flock to the concert, which promises to be one of the best live music events in the South West this year.

The exciting line-up on the main stage, sponsored by C&G Catering, also includes the Function Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth, the Phil Collins tribute band and the Birmingham Blues Brothers.
Red Hot Chilli Pipers spokesman Douglas Gillespie said they would be performing their popular fusion of traditional Scottish music and rock and pop anthems.

"We can't wait to perform in Plymouth and it's wonderful to see the event taking over an entire weekend,” he said.

"It shows how much support the British public has for our armed forces. And how much they want to show it. This event gives people the chance to say a big thank you to the men and women who keep our country safe.

“We are huge supporters of the armed forces and have performed for them all over the world.

"We plan to put on a show to remember and introduce the good people of Plymouth to ‘Bagrock!’

Making a welcome return appearance will be the Military Wives Choir, who will be performing on the main stage and the Veterans Village

They have been travelling the world, including a recent performance at world famous Carnegie Hall in New York.

The Birmingham Blues Brothers - billed as the UK’s premier Blues Brothers act - will be performing favourites from the show, as well as popular Ska hits.

Councillor Glenn Jordan, Cabinet Member for Culture, Plymouth City Council said the line-up - from the Royal Marines band to the Phil Collins tribute act - would have something for everyone.

He said: “The Plymouth Armed Forces event has been attracting more and more visitors every year.
“It made sense to make this a weekend event with even more to see and do and we’re sure it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.

“The history of Plymouth is entwined with the lives and bravery of the men and women of our armed forces.

“This is our chance to show how much we respect and honour each and every one, from raw recruits to veterans. It’s a celebration of all the hard work they do to keep our nation safe.”

More than 50,000 visitors took to the Hoe in 2015, breaking records for the annual celebration and prompting organisers Plymouth City Council’s event team to add an extra day.
