Burts Chips unveils new factory extension

Plymouth-based artisan snack brand, Burts Potato Chips celebrated its 20th anniversary by unveiling a new factory extension at the company’s headquarters following a £3.5 million investment into the business in 2016.

The Lord Mayor of Plymouth officially opened the site, alongside David Nairn, managing director at Burts Chips and sports players from top professional teams in the South West.

The factory extension is part of Burts’ ambitious growth strategy to cope with global demand – the brand is now available in over 30 countries – and will house the company’s new fryer imported from America.

A further fryer is to be installed later this year, when the company will invest a further £3.5 million into the brand as it goes from strength to strength – turnover is forecast to grow by 30% by the end of the year.
