New co-working hub for Plymouth
Thrive Hubs, an innovative network of co-working hubs, is due to officially open its door for business for the first time in Plymouth in three weeks, thanks to the completion of its first project in Ocean Crescent.
“The interest shown by the business community during and after the Plymouth Business Show gave the whole team a massive boost. We have always passionately believed we are offering something very relevant and it was great to have this sentiment echoed back to us by the local business community,” said Ray Bell, Managing Director of Thrive Hubs.
Since being lead sponsor of the Plymouth Business Show, an event organised by the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Thrive has been ‘working full throttle’ to get the premises ready for its launch in August. Thrive’s tenancy in the building marks the final stage of the complete renovation of the building acquired by property developer, Burrington Estates, in 2014.
“We are very excited to be able to welcome our membership community to Ocean Crescent in August and we have show offices ready for people to view right now,” says Ray.
Paul Scantlebury, Director of Burrington Estates, comments: “Finding the right tenant was an extremely important part of the strategy for the building and we are thrilled that Ocean Crescent was selected by Thrive to be its first city centre offering in Plymouth.
“We know that an important strand to Thrive’s offering is creating the right working environment and the space really lent itself to being used creatively to generate truly inspiring work spaces. Whether people are using the hot desking solution, one of the meeting rooms or take advantage of one of the serviced offices on offer, we are confident businesses won’t find anything else like this in Plymouth.
It will be great to see the space being used by local businesses and we cannot wait to see the Thrive community buzzing – we think it will be great for the city at large.”
Thrive Ocean Crescent will also have a cafe situated on the mezzanine floor, offering a great place for informal meetings, networking and refreshments. Each office comes fully furnished, has high speed Wifi and individually climate controlled.
Ray continues: “Seeing the visuals come to life and watching the space transform has been majorly exciting and we are currently pulling together the final elements of our events calendar, which we are looking forward to sharing in the coming weeks. We are on a mission to keep the hub constantly buzzing and cannot wait to welcome tenants and members into their space so they can meet their fellow community members.”
Hot on the heels of Thrive announcing its August launch in Ocean Crescent, the first of Thrive’s eagerly anticipated tours of The Ship building will commence on 23rd July, 11am – 2pm (see www.thrive-hubs.com for full list of tour dates).
In May this year, Burrington Estates announced they were saving the iconic glass building located in Derriford, Plymouth, from demolition and simultaneously announced Thrive Hubs were also to be a major tenant in this building too.
Ray comments: “With the formal completion announced by the developers, we are now in a position to host regular tours of the building and our team is looking forward to meeting with businesses interested in membership space. All people have to do is fill in the form on the website and tours can be arranged for any of our Thrive venues”
Thrive is already in advanced discussions with a data centre provider, gym operator and bed manufacturer about taking the commercial space in the building.
Before the year is out, businesses will be able to thrive in three venues across the city, as the brand aims to open another offering in Burrington Business Park located just off the A38 Devon Expressway by the end of the year.
Ray adds: The ultimate goal is to have different venues in a variety of locations across all regions of the UK. This will offer our customers a choice of the location and type of working environment that works best for their business. Being situated in three locations in Plymouth – heart of the city and two centres within easy reach of the main arteries in and out of the city – Will offer choice from a range of flexible work spaces to businesses looking to start up, expand or relocate to Plymouth.
As well as the Plymouth offering, members will also be able to access the wider Thrive community as it is rolled out across the country. There is already a Thrive Hub in the professional district in Exeter. There is another in Cardiff and the brand is also actively seeking premises in other cities, including Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester.
