Plymouth City Centre Company vice chair stands down

Liz Lawson, Managing Director of Lawsons, who have traded in Plymouth since 1904 and are a key fixture of Plymouth’s high street, has decided to stand down as vice-chair of the Plymouth City Centre Company and its Business Improvement District (BID). 

Liz was a founder of the City Centre BID in 2005, the first BID to be established in the UK outside of London.

Liz was the lead and driving force behind Flavour Fest, an annual event which attracts over 100,000 to the city in just three days. She has championed the independent trader and vibrant, diverse high streets long before Mary Portas made it cool.
Liz Lawson said, “I passionately believe that BIDs are a force for good where they operate and can effect positive change and improvements. It has been an honour to serve as a director on the Board of Plymouth City Centre BID and I wish Douglas, Jon and the Board every success in the future”

Douglas Fletcher, Chair of Plymouth City Centre Company, said “Liz has been one of the driving forces behind the Plymouth BID and it has been an absolute delight and privilege to have worked alongside her. She has a real passion for the city which will be sadly missed on the BID Board; however, it’s great to know she will still be closely involved with us in the years to come, Thank you Liz”.
