Above par charity golf event
On Friday 30th June, SSAFA Plymouth held its annual charity golf day at Yelverton Golf Club.
Nine teams of keen local golfers took part and braved the first day of steady Dartmoor rain for three weeks, to complete their rounds. The winning team, The Business Golf Group, received their deserved prize of a four-ball, donated by Yelverton Golf Club, from SSAFA Plymouth Chairman, Colin Stockman, after a hard-fought contest.
The event raised nearly £800 to help local service personnel, veterans and their families living in Plymouth.
Colin Stockman, SSAFA Plymouth Chair said: “We are grateful to everyone who took part in the competition and to the Club for supporting us. We could not help so many veterans if it wasn’t for our kind supporters in the community, so ‘thank you’ again."
SSAFA is on the lookout for more volunteers to help the Plymouth branch carry out its good work. No military background is necessary and full training and support is provided. Visit ssafa.org.uk/volunteer to find out more.
