Carrie takes to the skies for Trevi House

Carrie Laws from The Family Law Company put aside her trademark heels and donned a flying suit for an exhilarating fundraising skydive.

The daredevil lawyer jumped from 15,000 feet, so far raising £1250 for residential rehabilitation unit, Trevi House in Plymouth.

Carrie, who undertook the jump with friends Anne Shears and Helen Bull from Nash and Co, said: “Anyone that knows me realises that I rarely do anything that prevents me from wearing my beloved 4 inch heels. As I’m just over 5ft tall, 15,000 feet is quite a height for me."

Carrie’s skydive took place from Dunkeswell Airfield with instructor Neil Empringham; after a 10 minute ascent in a plane, the descent took just five minutes with 60 seconds of freefall.

“It was an incredible experience; the exhilaration from the freefall is unlike anything I have ever experienced, and the gentle glide from 5,000 feet to the ground was phenomenal. The views were breath-taking and will stay with me for a long time.”

Trevi House provides rehabilitation and parental assessment for mothers with drug or alcohol dependency issues, together with their children. The unit aims to break the cycle of addiction and support a positive reintegration into society whilst laying the foundation for a child-centric life view.

“Statistics from Trevi House suggest that mothers who retain care of their children whilst undergoing intensive rehabilitation are a massive 76% more likely to overcome their addiction than those whose children are removed,” Carrie explained.
