Charity Golf Day raises money for war veterans
Brewin Dolphin, one of the UK’s largest independently-owned private client wealth managers announces its inaugural Charity Golf Day held at Boringdon Park Golf Club was a resounding success.
Attracting over 60 golfers, the event in aid of British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association (BLESMA) was won by Kitsons Solicitors and raised over £1,300 for this worthy cause.
BLESMA campaigns for veteran’s rights, looking after individuals, their dependants and widows by offering a comprehensive grants and welfare system.
In Afghanistan, British servicemen and women − some as young as 18 years old − are suffering terrible, life changing injuries. Limbless veterans of all ages, even those recently wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, are not only encouraged to walk again but to sail the Atlantic, to ski down mountains and to compete in the Paralympics for the country they fought for.
Brian James – Divisional Director and ‘Head of Office’ Brewin Dolphin Plymouth says: “We were delighted with the tremendous support we received for our very first Charity Golf day with 60 golfers from the local business community.
"In addition our thanks also go to the many sponsors including BMW Ocean who provided a car as a ‘Hole in One’ prize as well entering a team. My colleagues all worked extremely hard to make sure this event was a resounding success and raising much needed funds for this very worthy charity.”
