Lifeworks students go back in time at Newton Abbot Museum

As part of their Arts Award qualification Lifeworks College students explored Newton Abbot Museum. Last week two of groups from Lifeworks Specialist Further Education College went on a trip to Newton Abbot Museum. This was part of their Arts Award qualification. When we arrived we were met by Kate and Katie who gave us all an introduction to the museum. Then it was time to explore, who knew this museum had so many treasures and so many exhibits were hands on. In the costume section Charlotte especially enjoyed dressing up and re-enacting that her husband had gone to war. Charlie and Alexander enjoyed decorating a vase then seeing its reflection in a mirror. Everyone enjoyed watching the train going around on its track near the ceiling. This museum had to much to see and everyone enjoyed exploring.

Then we had a workshop, each person made their own bookmarks and were very creative. Students interviewed the staff at the museum about their jobs and found out some very interesting answers to their questions and facts about their jobs. The student’s final task was to write or make a poster about their time at the museum. They used photos and leaflets to show everyone what they had seen and enjoyed and why it was well worth a visit and especially good value as it is free.

We all decided that we would certainly recommend it, a big thank you to all the staff at the museum for all their help and making our visit so interesting and fun, hopefully we will be back soon so we can discover even more treasures.
