Plymouth based Probation Officer Mike Atkinson, has been shortlisted for a possible commendation by the Butler Trust – an independent charity which promotes excellence in UK prisons, probation and youth justice.

Says Chief Executive Officer of Devon and Cornwall Probation Trust, Rob Menary:

“I would like to congratulate Mike on getting this far in the Butler trust awards process. Indirectly this reflects very positively on Trust colleagues and the great work that Probation does. My experience of probation staff is that they are reluctant to sing their own praises.  I believe that Mike truly deserve recognition for his hard work.”

Says his colleague Chris Munn:-

“Mike is a dedicated and conscientious probation officer working with Public Protection cases in Plymouth Well done to him.”

Says Simon Shepherd, Director of the Butler Trust:-

“I am delighted  that Mike has been shortlisted by our Sifting Panel for a possible Butler Trust Commendation, and would like to  congratulate him on reaching this stage; only 38 nominations have been shortlisted for either an award or a commendation, out of an original total of around 260."

A special ceremony for award winners and comendees will be held early next year.
