Taking steps to help support Burrator Stroke Unit

Raising money to support the acute stroke unit on Burrator Ward at Derriford hospital, Sarah Bradbury took on the challenge of this year’s Plymouth Half Marathon.

After her husband Steve suffered a stroke last November, she was inspired to take part and raise money to thank the staff on Burrator Ward who supported him through several weeks of recovery.

Sarah said: “Steve has made a remarkable recovery and I feel a lot of this was due to the care he was given by the team. The care he received and the support myself and his parents received was outstanding.”

Completing the half marathon in 3 hours 7 minutes and 11 seconds, Sarah has raised a staggering £1,100 which will help to purchase new equipment such as larger rimmed cups for patients during protective meal times and new chairs for the staff room.
