Plymouth GCSE Results 2015

Early figures suggest that 53 per cent of Plymouth students have achieved 5 A* - C Grades. This is a similar result to last year, with encouraging figures for the number of students getting the grades they need in English and Maths.

Councillor Sue McDonald, Cabinet Member for Children, Young people and Public Health said: “Across Plymouth, students from local schools and academies are today celebrating some excellent GCSE results.  This will represent a significant recognition and reward for the efforts and hard work over the last two years.

“Some schools have yet to inform us of their results but most are pleased with the results their students have achieved.  Across the city, some of our young people have achieved outstanding individual results for which they should be extremely proud.

“I’d like to personally congratulate all the students on their achievements and hard work and I wish them success as they move into the next phase of their education and training.  For many, this will mean accepting a place at a local sixth form or college whilst for others it will involve progressing into apprenticeships.”

Some technical problems with data have prevented the swift transfer of GCSE information. However the citywide picture is looking similar at this stage to that in  2014. Changes to examinations and marking schemes do mean there are variations each year in results and validated, final position won’t be known locally or nationally for some months.

For students who have not received their expected grades, or those re-considering their plans, support and guidance on alternative options can be provided by staff in their schools and colleges. Careers Advisers will also be available at the Careers South West (CSW) office in Union Street, Plymouth for advice on subject choices at sixth form as well as information on other potential options for students, including local colleges and apprenticeships in the area.
