Coombeshead Academy in Newton Abbot, part of Education South West, is excited to launch its new Level 2 CREATE course - an inspiring and innovative pathway for students eager to explore the world of art and design.

This new offering is tailor-made for students who may not yet be ready for Level 3 qualifications (such as A-Levels), giving them the necessary foundation to progress into higher education or embark on a career in the creative industries.

Designed to nurture creative potential, the Level 2 CREATE course combines essential academic skills with hands-on artistic exploration. Students will be supported through a study skills programme, preparing them for the rigours of future academic challenges while developing their creative talents in a range of artistic disciplines.

The course, which starts in September 2025, will be led by experienced Art & Design teachers Emily Parr and Tracey Williams, who bring their expertise in 3D design and textiles, respectively, to guide students through the exciting realms of painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, and graphics.  Together, they will ensure that every student has the space to refine their skills and express their artistic flair  in a supportive environment.

The Level 2 CREATE course is open to students with at least 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, providing a pathway for those with a passion for creativity to continue on their artistic journeys.  Ms Parr and Ms Williams believe this programme will offer invaluable opportunities for young people to explore their potential and prepare for whatever comes next, be it Level 3 courses or careers in the arts.
