Drama workshops at Ridgeway School
Year 12 BTEC Performing Arts students from Ridgeway School ran a storytelling project with two local primary schools recently.
Twenty eight pupils from St Maurice primary school and 60 pupils from Glen Park primary school took part.
The Ridgeway Performing Arts students researched stories and then developed performances targeted at Year 4 and Year 5 audiences. After watching the performances, the primary students enjoyed taking part in practical workshops designed and run by the post-16 students.
The workshop consisted of some exercises to build confidence, and then the students were taught how to use story-telling techniques to retell a section of the performances that they had just witnessed.
“Everyone who took part really enjoyed it, said Simon Turley, Head of Creative Arts.
“Our performing arts students did a great job at making sure the performance and workshops were relevant to the primary school pupils and kept them engaged and interested throughout the session.”
