Creative fun at Museum this summer

There’s a packed programme of summer fun on offer at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery this August, with plenty of activities to keep the kids busy during the school break.

Drop-in art and craft sessions are running every Wednesday throughout the month, from 10.30am to 1pm (last entries at 12.30pm).

The drop-ins will be inspired by Sir Joshua Reynolds (5 August), the ‘Plymouth Contemporary Open’ exhibition at Peninsula Arts (12 August), the ‘Fallen Emperor’ exhibition and HMS Bellerophon (19 August) and flag making (26 August).

Admission is free, there is no need to book in advance and people are welcome to go along for as little or as long as they like.

The sessions on 6, 13 and 27 August will run from 10.30am to 12pm, with a charge of £2.50 per child for materials. The badge making sessions on 20 August will run from 10.15am to 11am and 11.15am to 12pm, with a charge of £1 per badge.

Advance booking is advised for all workshop sessions as spaces are limited.

The summer holiday will draw to a close with a free Wild About Plymouth event on Friday 28 August. ‘Jurassic Lark’ will be a chance to chat to local dinosaur experts, learn more about these amazing extinct creatures, enjoy some art and craft activities and look at fossils from the natural history collections.

The event will run from 11am to 4pm, there is no need to book and people can go along for as little or as long as they like.
