DEVCON17 launches The 95 Spider Batmobile in Plymouth

DEVCON17 opens its first Event of the year on Saturday March 18th at Plymouth Guild Hall and as usual this Family Favourite Toy & Sci-Fi Fair, has lots install for its visitors, with something they hope will appeal to new comers of all ages & to their regular fan base.

Come and see the amazing steampunk version of ‘The 95 Spider Batmobile’, which is launched exclusively to Plymouth.  Its creator Mark, an expert specialist in building Models & props for Theatre, Film & TV, will be able to talk you through how this spectacular vehicle progressed from initial design to final interactive product.  You can even sit inside the Batmobile & enjoy your very own Batman or Girl, experience.

Once again Plymouth will welcome guests from TV & the Big Screen, including actors from Star Wars, Dr Who, Batman, Bond & Assassins Creed, all of whom will be offering the sale of autographs & eager to share their tales of the many facets of working within the Film World

Organiser Lea Shelford said: “The Event will have a massive array of fabulous traders, including all the visitor favourites, as well as welcoming lots of great new stall holders, selling all the highly popular goods at really competitive prices and never seen before items.  We will offer our visitors, the regular feats of fun & fantasy and in addition, for this year DEVCON we have strived to add a focus on education, with acclaimed Artist & Writer Guests, offering Q&A Sessions, Art Demos & Tuition from Concept to page, as well as tips on writing, lessons in Costume Making and brilliant Special Effects Make up creations, just like those seen in some of the most gruesome TV & Film scenes.

“Star Wars Fans can also come along and gain new skills at the Light Saber and Combat Academy.  Visitors will also be able to join the experts and learn new tactics in our Table Top and Gaming Section.

There is a ‘Creative Competition’, which asks entrants to draw their Favourite Comic Book or Sci-Fi Hero and add a mini story line, with speech bubbles. Entries can be an individual or group effort & will be judged in age & ability appropriate categories, so it’s open for all skill levels to enter.  All the winners will be posted at the Event and will be put together to form one Big DEVCON Story Board, so you can enter with 1 picture or a page of lots of Frames.”
March 18th, hosts the 2016 Cosplay & Fancy Dress Championships, as well as welcoming all new entrants for Heat1 2016, so put on your favourite fantasy costume and take part.” For official character clothing visit popgear.

Plymouth’s City Centre Manager, Jon Walton said: “DEVCON is a real draw to Plymouth, bringing in a huge footfall to the city centre.  This will be a great opportunity for visitors to meet film and TV stars, collect memorabilia and see comic artists at work.
