Royal William Yard's Christmas Wonderland Market set to wow
Royal William Yard, the award-winning ex-Naval Victualling Yard, is to host an extra special Christmas Wonderland Market this Sunday (4 December) featuring local produce including turkey, mince pies and all the trimmings - with some extra special Christmas treats to amaze and entertain the family.
The bumper market will feature 85 local stalls - 65 food & drink and 20 craft, jewellery, clothing and hand-made furniture stalls.
A fantastic array of local produce will be on offer ranging from Plymouth pasties, Dartmoor charcuterie, “Curiously Delicious” spirits, Indian pickles, fresh turkeys, chutneys, cheese, bread, and lots more …
There will be free live Christmas children’s interactive experiences presented by Far-Flung Dance/theatre, plus opera-style Christmas songs for families. There’ll also be a lantern making workshop beforehand and dusk-time lantern parade - with some additional surprises and special Christmas ‘happenings’ all around the Yard from festive stilt walkers, balloon modellers and Brantley’s Theatre Company to amaze and entertain the children.
The day will culminate in a festive concert at 4.15 pm when families and friends are invited to listen and sing along with the incredible Amelia Whiteman accompanied by Annalise Gladstone and the electric violinist Rebecca Kelly.
The star of the show, Santa, will arrive by RNLI lifeboat to a chorus of Santa’s Coming to Town as he arrives into Royal William Yard on the Plymouth lifeboat at 5pm with the high tide.
“We're planning a fabulous Christmas experience for all the family - The Yards shops will all be open plus if you would like to eat, there will be the usual high quality food and drink on offer from all our amazing restaurants and bars” said Emily Handslip, Director of Royal William Yard.
Event days can be busy so consider coming by bike, on foot, hop on the 34a Citybus from the city centre or take the Royal William Yard ferry from the Barbican (weather permitting).
