Theatre Royal Plymouth needs your vote
Voting has begun to find the UK's Most Welcoming Theatre 2016 in Association with Smooth Radio and Theatre Royal Plymouth is in the running.
The winners of this year’s award will be decided by a public vote which is open until noon on Monday 19 September 2016. Votes can be cast at uktheatre.org/vote and votes will be entered into a prize draw to win £200 worth of Theatre Tokens.
This year there are 241 venues across the country competing to take home the coveted title. The 12 Regional and National winners of the vote will be announced on 29 September 2016. The overall winner of the award will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards on Sunday 9 October.
This is an opportunity for audiences to celebrate their local Theatre and all they do for their local communities. Theatre Royal Plymouth aims to clinch the award this year after winning the regional heats last year to reach the final.
Alan Fox Theatre Manager at Theatre Royal Plymouth explained “We are delighted to be nominated for the UK Theatre Awards Most Welcoming Theatre. This nomination shows us we’ve still got our customers at the heart of what we do and that we’re continuing to develop in the right direction. Since our last nomination, we have undertaken a front of house departmental review to make sure we are providing the best service to our customers. We love the diversity of our programme here at Theatre Royal Plymouth and our part of looking after audiences in the three different auditoria at TRP, TR2 and other locations across Plymouth.”
Ross Powney, Usher at Theatre Royal Plymouth said “It’s nice seeing people come out at the end of the show as they’re always smiling. They’ve had friendly service and they always say they feel welcome coming to the Theatre Royal Plymouth. Patrons comment that the staff are always really friendly and helpful, this is built upon by the letters we receive saying they’ve had fantastic service. It’s really nice to be recognised by the UK Theatre Awards for our customer service!”
Erin Black, Usher, also explained “Its nice meeting the patrons and making sure their Theatre experience is the best it can be!”
The UK Theatre Awards are the only nationwide awards to honour outstanding achievement in Theatre throughout the United Kingdom. This year's ceremony will take place at London's historic Guildhall.
Julian Bird, Chief Executive, UK Theatre, said: “Theatres throughout the UK play a crucial role in the heart of our communities and continue to thrive despite a challenging financial climate. This award gives audiences the chance to show how much their venue means to them.”
