Devon's Luke survives X Factor scare
Devon's Luke Friend has been saved by the X Factor judges in a dramatic finale to the Great British Songbook weekend.
Fans were shocked to see him appear in the bottom two with good friend Sam Callahan.
Before the sing-off, Sam sang George Michael number Faith, while Luke took on Your Song by Elton John.
For their 'sing off' song a teary Luke belted out U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For while Sam sang Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls.
And Luke recieved high praise following his victory from none other than pop superstar Adele.
She tweeted: "Whoa Luke Friend was ridiculously good in that sing off on X factor! I want him to win! X"
Only five other acts remain in the competition and return for next week's show:
Hannah Barrett, who sang the Rolling Stones classic Satisfaction; Nicholas McDonald, who took on Adele's hit Someone Like You; Rough Copy, who sang coldplay's Viva La Vida; Sam Bailey, who received praise for her cover of the Beatles song Something; and Tamera Foster, who sang the Shirley Bassey classic Diamonds Are Forever.
* It was reported at the weekend that Simon Cowell is understood to have negotiated a new £150 million deal that will see The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent run until 2016.
