Frozen on Ice comes to outdoor rink
Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf will be at the outdoor ice rink on the Piazza as local skaters perform to a number of popular songs from the Disney film Frozen.
To welcome them, Mr and Mrs Claus, along with their huskies and elves, will take to the ice at 5.30pm.
Crowds will be able to head to the Piazza and sing along as a synchronised skating team, Synchronicity, and local individual skaters spin, spiral and jump to the songs in the film.
Entry to the show, which will last approximately 45 minutes, will be by a voluntary cash donation with all proceeds from the night being donated to Jerimiah’s Journey. Children from the local charity will also be participating in the show.
Children visiting Plymouth will also be able to meet the Frozen characters, provided by Upon a Wish, and have their photo taken at Santa’s Grotto after the show, located in Armada Gardens, outside BHS. The meet and greet will take place until 8pm and there will be a charge of £2 per photo, which will also be donated to Jerimiah’s Journey.
Kimmy Downham, Director of Ice Angels Events (operators of the outdoor ice rink), said: “Thursday is the start of the Christmas activities and what best way to celebrate. Frozen is extremely popular and we want to be able to put on a spectacular show for the people of Plymouth. We will be putting on a number of other ice shows and discos through the season so make sure you keep up-to-date by visiting the Ice Angels website.”
The ice rink will be open after the show for public skating. Booking is recommended due to the number of visitors into the city during the Christmas lights switch-on, taking place outside Drake Circus on Cornwall Street, 4pm to 6.30pm.
