Vue Plymouth celebrates twenty blockbusting years
Vue Plymouth has marked its 20th birthday at the Barbican Leisure Park on Thursday, celebrating two decades as part of the community with a special cake.
The 15-screen venue was first opened as part of the Barbican Leisure Park in May 1999, and has since been screening the latest film, theatre, musical performances and more for happy customers in the city. To mark the anniversary, General Manager James Ashcroft cut a celebratory cake alongside Councillor Peter Smith, who is responsible for culture in Plymouth, and enjoyed it with staff and customers at the venue.
Councillor Peter Smith commented: “It is great to join the 20th celebration of Vue, which has been part of Plymouth’s increasing cultural offering and I look forward to many more years of excellent entertainment provided to visitors in Plymouth.”
James Ashcroft, General Manager at Vue Plymouth, added: “We’re very proud to be a part of such an important milestone here. The team and I love welcoming people to enjoy the best in big screen entertainment with us – after all, it’s the customers of Plymouth who have kept us going for 20 years.”
The venue has over 3,000 seats and has seen hundreds of thousands of film fans come through the doors since opening, and it has no plans of slowing down.
Alongside its anniversary, Vue Plymouth is also excited to be delivering more massive events, such as the upcoming release of Aladdin, Liam Gallagher: As It Was and live screenings of concerts from Take That and Westlife.
