Celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day at Lympstone Manor

For one night only, Michael Caines is teaming up with Christopher Piper Wines to host a spectacular wine pairing event at East Devon’s renowned country house hotel, Lympstone Manor. 

Taking place on Thursday 17th of November in the Pool House Restaurant & Bar, Chris Piper will introduce a selection of stunning wines, paired with Michael’s seasonal menu, both showcasing the very best of Beaujolais. 

At this exclusive event, Chris will show a range of red, white and sparkling wines from the region, drawing on his winemaking life in the Beaujolais region of France. 

Chris brings a wealth of experience in the industry and area, where he spent twenty years as head winemaker at Château des Tours in Brouilly, and a further twenty years at Château du Pavé in Brouilly-St.Lager. 

A French tradition, Beaujolais Nouveau Day is celebrated annually on the third Thursday in November to celebrate the first wine of the season. It is traditionally marked with fireworks, music and festivals in the weeks after the wine’s grapes have been harvested. 

This year’s wines reveal a depth of black fruit colour, with a fresh, crunchy fruitiness and fine tannic structure. 

Guests are invited to arrive at 6.30 pm to enjoy canapés and a glass of fizz before sitting down in the Pool House dining area for a superbly matched menu of French-inspired cuisine and Beaujolais wines. £110 per person.

For guests looking to experience the hotel in full festive splendour, Christmas with Caines will follow on Wednesday the 7th of December. 

Here, Michael Caines will host a spectacular gala dinner, personally revealing the story behind each dish from a six-course tasting menu. Wine expert, Steve Edwards, will also introduce a flight of perfectly matched wines from Lympstone Manor’s 600-bin cellar at this exclusive event.
