Following the enormous success of a visit earlier this year from guest fish chef extraordinaire Mitch Tonks, Manna from Devon Cooking School is delighted to announce two must save dates for any food and drink enthusiast’s diary. As a special treat David and Holly Jones have invited two ‘celebrity’ experts to run two unique classes at their cooking school in Kingswear. Regular wine expert on BBC1’s ‘Saturday Kitchen’, Susy Atkins will host Al Fresco Cooking and Summery Drinks on Friday 11th July, whilst renowned chef and TV presenter Alex Mackay will be visiting the school on Friday 12th September for a day of Provencal Cooking.

Susy, the Sunday Telegraph’s ‘Stella’ magazine’s esteemed wine columnist and drinks editor for Delicious magazine, will be running an exceptional cooking and wine class rolled into one. As well as hands-on al fresco cooking there’ll be a vast array of wines to taste and the rare opportunity to hear Susy share her extraordinary drinks knowledge. Matching wine with al fresco food, discussions on the latest wine trends and Susy’s expert advice on what’s hot to drink this summer are just some of the topics which will be covered during the day.

Throughout the class you’ll be treated to a delicious selection of local and seasonal produce guaranteed to get your taste buds tingling. Roasted scallops with summer herbs and white wine, pork escalope with sage and lemon, spiced lamb kofta with tabbouleh, feta cheese with Mediterranean vegetables with basil oil and flat breads topped with summer squash are just some of the tasty treats you’ll be sampling.

Having previously worked with Raymond Blanc, Delia Smith and been a regular on BBC2’s ‘Ready Steady Cook’, well-known chef and TV presenter Alex Mackay has a wealth of experience to share during his day of Provencal Cooking. Vastly qualified, Alex’s book ‘Cooking in Provence’ won the Gourmand World Cookbook award for ‘Best Book on French Cuisine in English’ and he’s previously run his own cooking school in Provence.

Co-owner of Manna from Devon Cooking School, David says: “Both Holly and I have known Susy and Alex for a very long time and are thrilled to welcome them to Manna from Devon Cooking School for two special, one-off classes.” David continues: “The classes are a fantastic opportunity for Susy and Alex to share their vast wealth of knowledge in the relaxed environment of the cooking school and should prove to be a fun-filled and educational day for all.”

The classes start at 10am and run until 4pm with places costing £150 per person. Places are limited to just ten students, with booking essential. To book your place email David and Holly at info@mannafromdevon.com or call 01803 752943. Further information can be found on all of Manna from Devon’s courses at www.mannafromdevon.com.
