Several thousand passengers are expected to fly from or into Exeter Airport over the Easter period, with outbound travellers on Thursday’s Thomson flight likely to be enjoying the warmer weather in Sharm el Sheikh with temperatures over 30 degrees.

Many of the outbound passengers over the Easter week will also be seeking the sun in the Canaries or mainland Spain, and the first of Exeter’s new Barcelona flights will be departing on Sunday.

Matt Roach, Exeter Airport’s managing director said: “We are very pleased with the bookings for our busiest period of the year so far, and the take up for Flybe’s new twice a week flights to Barcelona is very encouraging.”

“The airport will be welcoming hundreds of passengers into the region who will be spending time with family and friends this Easter but there has also been a great deal of interest in getting away to warmer climes such as Malaga, Alicante, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and the Algarve on the Thomson and Flybe flights.”

Many families have booked on the Exeter to Paris flights for the Disneyland treat whilst others are planning something more sedate on the Isles of Scilly and making use of the increased flights to St. Mary’s with Skybus which currently offers up to four flights a day.

For those who have not yet booked, there are still some seats on the first flight of the year to Majorca departing on 2 April. With seven night holidays on offer from under £375 per person at highly rated three star apartments and temperatures currently around 20 degrees Celsius, many will be tempted to swap the cold South West for some Spanish sun.
