We all know that technology has improved many rooms in the home, but how often do we think of a high-tech bathroom? From getting ready in the morning to relaxing in the evening, today’s bathrooms can be designed to be more comfortable, efficient, and stylish than ever before. Here are some features that will update your bathroom into the modern day.

Shower thermostats

Forget having to wait for the shower to reach the perfect temperature. GROHE gives you improved control over the temperature and flow with the press of a button. Even if someone else in the house uses a tap or flushes a toilet, your shower won’t be affected at all. If you turn off the shower for a few minutes then the water flow and temperature will remain exactly the same as before.

Smart bathroom scales

Bathroom scales are not exactly new, of course, but smart scales provide a much better view of your body than just your weight. Body fat percentage, muscle mass, and even BMI can all be measured, and when connected with an app, you’re able to track your progress. There are some incredibly advanced models that even track hydration levels, which is great for your overall fitness targets.

Detectors for water leaks

It’s no joke to find water leaks in the bathroom, as it can lead to expensive repairs and sometimes mould building up. Thankfully, there are water detectors that can be placed in certain spots in the bathroom, which will alert you via an app if any water leaks are noticed. It could be anything from a dripping tap to an overflowing sink to a leaky pipe, but whatever it is, find the problem before it ruins your bathroom.

Sensor taps

Already found in restaurants or airports, sensor taps are amazing to stop the spread of germs in your home. Without having to touch any handles to activate the tap, you can turn on the water when your hand is near the sensor. Some newer models can also be set to specific temperatures, but the other great thing is that you don’t have to worry about water loss if someone forgets to turn off the tap.

Smart lighting

Sometimes you’ll need a bright light around the mirror for shaving, brushing teeth, or applying makeup, but there are also moments when the lighting can be softer. Smart light systems let you adjust the brightness and even colour of the lights, which is perfect for many reasons. For one, late-night trips to the bathroom are much better with dimmed lighting, and some mood lighting with gradual colour changing is great for a relaxing bath. Some lights can also be connected to AI voice assistants such as Siri or Alexa for ultimate control.

Heated flooring

If you’re aiming for a luxury bathroom and haven’t already got heated flooring, then where have you been? During winter, there’s not much better than stepping onto a nice cosy floor without freezing your toes. Not only is heated flooring for your comfort, but it also helps with heating the entire room and preventing damp patches from building up.

Smart mirror

You might think that a mirror doesn’t need an upgrade, but smart mirrors have many useful features. The adjustable lighting is certainly helpful, but many people love the defogging aspect more than anything, as there’s not much worse than waiting for the mirror to defog to begin your daily tasks. Depending on the model, smart mirrors also come with useful options like playing music and providing a weather report.
