Transformation of historic mill in Ivybridge begins with the launch of new homes
The transformation of Stowford Mill is underway and on Saturday 28 July, members of the public will be given the opportunity to reserve one of the new three, four or five bedroom homes being created at this unique location.
Held at The Watermark in Ivybridge between 10am - 3pm, the event gives prospective homeowners the chance to meet with Burrington Estates – the South West-based property developer behind the scheme, and Maitlands - exclusive local selling agents, to view the exciting designs, find out more about the development and place an ‘early-bird’ reservation.
Nestled in the tranquil Erme Valley and framed by Dartmoor National Park, Stowford Mill is tipped to be one of the trendiest places in Ivybridge to live, work, eat, shop and stay. Burrington Estates’ vision is to transform this eight-acre site into a vibrant community with contemporary new homes, retail units, offices and leisure facilities.
The collection of new homes, being released in the first phase of development, will be situated amongst woodland beside the River Erme, with the historic viaduct creating an impressive backdrop for homeowners to enjoy. Four house types are available, all designed to blend perfectly into Stowford’s idyllic setting.
“Designing homes that could maximise the stunning scenery and celebrate the impressive architectural significance of the site was very important to us. We purposefully created living space on the first floor of the three-bed homes, so residents can step out on to a terrace overlooking the garden and enjoy wider views of the natural setting afforded by this truly unique location,” said Mark Edworthy, co-owner of Burrington Estates.
Owners of the Birch, a four bedroom property, can enjoy views of the oak tree, which stands in the centre of the collection of homes and is believed to be as old as the mill itself.
"The closer you get to the viaduct, the larger the houses will be. The walled garden, at the rear of the site, will be the location of our exclusive five-bedroom properties, sitting beneath the historic viaduct, surrounded by trees and enjoying the sounds of the River Erme,” added Mark. "An extra special touch is the original Victorian greenhouse, located in the gardens of one of these truly special properties, which will be fully refurbished and enjoyed by the owners for years to come.”
The Grade II listed mill, with its landmark chimney, will be sensitively transformed into a unique collection of loft style apartments, with original features and views across the Erme Valley. At the heart of Stowford Mill will be a public square surrounded by boutique shops, restaurants and cafes. The new ‘Stowford Court’, will complete the community by providing high end, spacious later living apartments.
Maitlands Ivybridge have been appointed as the exclusive selling agent for the new homes and can assist with the purchase of a new home and the sale of an existing property.
