Investigation launched into fire at builders' yard

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fire at a builders' yard in Wingfield Road, Stoke, Plymouth on Tuesday 12th May.

Police assisted with road closures on Raynham Road, Wingfield Way and Penlee Road and residents were asked to keep their windows closed as the Fire service tackled the blaze, which was reported at around 1.50pm.

The road remained closed overnight as investigation work took place and the area was made secure. Fire service’s urban search and rescue team are currently on site for a precautionary check of the area.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and would like to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious, or witnessed anyone entering the yard on Wingfield Road prior to the fire starting.
