Kyle returns to face the Witches
PLYMOUTH hope to round off their League Cup fixtures on a winning note when they face Ipswich at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening (7.15pm), writes Graham Hambly.
The Skills Group Devils will have skipper Kyle Newman returning from injury and have called up Coventry’s National League rider Dan Greenwood as a guest replacement for injured reserve Sam Chapman.
Despite seeing his side lose at home to Peterborough and Rye House, Plymouth co-promoter Ashley Taylor is optimistic about the prospects against Ipswich.
He says: "We were without our captain Kyle Newman against Rye House and only had five points from the rider replacement rides, which is less than we would have expected from Kyle if he had been riding.
"With Kyle back in the side, I am confident that we are more than capable of beating Ipswich on Friday."
The Witches have retained four of last season’s side with the Australian duo of Rohan Tungate and Cameron Heeps lining-up again with American Gino Manzares and the experienced Ritchie Hawkins.
They have been joined by Great Britain international Danny King, who takes over the number one position, while the reserves are Nico Covatti and twice British under-19 champion Stefan Nielsen.
Plymouth: Ryan Fisher, Sam Simota, Jack Holder, Morten Risager, Kyle Newman. Reserves: Ashley Morris, Dan Greenwood.
Ipswich: Kevin Doolan (Guest for Danny King EL duty), Ritchie Hawkins (c), R/R Gino Manzares (Speedway injury), Cameron Heeps, Rohan Tungate, Lewis Rose (Guest for Stefan Nielsen EL duty), Nico Covatti.
