You’ll never walk alone…or run alone…if you’re taking part in this year’s Race for Life on 22 June.

Plymouth City Council’s sports development unit has organised free training sessions to help get you in shape for the charity run.

The one-hour sessions are suitable for people of all fitness levels and abilities – from those who have never raced before to experienced 5K runners.

They’re taking place in various locations at a range of times, including mornings and early evenings, to help you prep for the big day.

Meeting points include Coypool Park and Ride, Plymstock School Sports Centre, Freedom Fields Park, the Civic Centre, UCP Marjon Sports Centre, Plymouth Life Centre, Fort Stamford Health and Fitness Centre and Saltram House

Extra sessions are also being offered to help improve balance, core, agility and strength training at just £2 a week. These take place at the Plymouth Life Centre every Thursday morning from 24 April and include basic exercises that help develop running technique and improve core conditioning.

Not registered for Race for Life yet? Don’t get left behind – sign up at www.raceforlife.org, raise money for a good cause and get fit for the summer!

Even if you’re not running in the race you can still go along to the training sessions, but there will be a charge of £2 a session. All proceeds raised will go to Cancer Research UK.

For full details of the training sessions visit www.plymouth.gov.uk/runninggroups. To book a place call 01752 307008 or email sportsdevelopment@plymouth.gov.uk.
