RGB team getting ready to take on charity rally for the third time
An adventurous team from RGB Building Supplies is taking part in September’s Pavestone Rally and is inviting people to a curry and quiz evening at the Ebberley Arms in Barnstaple to support the team’s fundraising.
The Pavestone Rally is a fundraising challenge in aid of four charities – The Rainy Day Trust, Variety, Crash, and British Heart Foundation – and is open to teams that work across the construction sector.
The rally will see RGB’s Operations Manager Lee Kift, Ian Roulstone and Clive Johnson who are based at the company’s Barnstaple branch, and RGB customer Jamie Gibson from floor covering distributor R&M Wholesale, drive across Europe in an old banger.
They will depart from Gent in Belgium on Thursday 7th September and drive to Strasbourg in France, Innsbruck in Austria, and Milan in Italy, before arriving at their final destination of Monte Carlo on Sunday 10th September. After enjoying a gala dinner in Nice in France, the team will return to the UK on Monday 11th September.
The journey must be completed in a road-legal car for a little money as possible, and, throughout the trip, the team will have to complete a series of challenges whilst dressed in a variety of fancy-dress costumes. The team will be driving a 2006 Volvo V70 which they purchased for £700
The RGB team is inviting customers and the local community to join them at the Ebberley Arms in Barnstaple for a fundraising curry and quiz evening at 7pm on Friday 11th August. Tickets cost £10 per person and can be purchased from RGB Building Supplies’ Barnstaple branch, which is located on Pottington Business Park. All the money raised from ticket sales will go to the team’s fundraising efforts.
Lee Kift commented:
“This will be the third time a team from RGB Building Supplies has taken part in the Pavestone Rally. The construction industry is such a friendly and charitable sector and there is great camaraderie during the rally. Everyone pulls together to raise as much money as possible for four extremely worthwhile causes.
“To help with our fundraising, we’re organising a number of events, and the curry and quiz evening is just one of them. The evening is open to everyone, and we look forward to welcoming people to the Ebberley Arms for a fun event.”
The Rainy Day Trust provides support and financial grants when times are tough to people who have worked in the UK’s home improvement industries, and Variety helps children and young people who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged. Crash is the official charity of the construction industry and supports homeless people and those requiring end of life care, as well as working to deliver a more caring society. The British Heart Foundation funds research into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them.
