B&Q donates 14 Christmas trees to local charities

B&Q will be spreading festive cheer across Devon and Cornwall this Christmas, by donating 14 Christmas trees to local good causes, including Queensway Primary School, Brent Ward’s pancreatic cancer unit at Derriford Hospital, and Street YMCA.

The donations form part of B&Q’s ongoing commitment to supporting its local community and this year the UK’s leading home improvement retailer will giveaway almost 300 Christmas trees to charities across the country.

The benefitting charities have all been selected because they are close to the hearts of colleagues, who will be hand delivering the spruces over the next two weeks in order to spread Christmas cheer to the local people supported by the good causes.

Staff at B&Q Exeter chose to donate Christmas trees to Queensway Primary School in Torquay and Hayward Primary School in Exeter. Children from Hayward School wrote and sent a letter to B&Q thanking all the staff for the Christmas tree and for delivering it.

Peter Lucas, Regional Manager at B&Q, said, “Across Devon and Cornwall, we have donated 14 of our Christmas trees to local charities in the area. The idea of giving back to our local community have always been at the heart of our business, and it is even more important at Christmas.”

Some of the organisations in Devon and Cornwall which have benefited from B&Q’s donations include:

·         B&Q Exeter supporting Queensway Primary School in Torquay and Hayward Primary School in Exeter
·         B&Q Glastonbury supporting Street YMCA
·         B&Q Plymouth supporting Brent Ward Pancreatic Cancer at Derriford Hospital
