As the sun starts to make a tentative appearance, our minds turn toward planning holidays and making the most of the year ahead. Holidaymakers can do a bit of good as they staycation in Devon, as Cofton Holidays have set up a partnership with Rowcroft Hospice, with funds from the award-winning holiday park supporting the vital work of the hospice.

Rowcroft Hospice is committed to making every day the best day possible for people living with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon and providing comfort and support to families coping with the hardest days. To support this important work, Cofton Holidays have put together a program of activities and events through which the Cofton team and holiday park guests will raise funds that will go directly to the hospice.

Some highlights of the partnership will include;

  • Option to add a donation when making a holiday booking
  • A fundraising event for seasonal guests
  • Dedicated fundraising activity at the very successful annual Cofton American Car Show
  • A family day event in May
  • Adding ‘invisible chips’ to the menu so donations can be added to food orders
  • A race night event in November
  • All money donated through activities and events will be matched by Cofton, doubling the money raised

Cofton Holidays attracts 34,000 guests staying on site each year, as well as an estimated 5,000 additional day visitors. Guests and visitors will have additional opportunities to donate to Rowcroft Hospice at the time of booking holidays and activities and via collection tins across the site. Visitors can also pay it forward by buying ‘invisible chips’ for Rowcroft Hospice!

Helen Scott, Director said: “Cofton Holidays is a family run business, and our family is extended in the form of our 200 staff! With such a large team we have seen staff and their families go through good times and bad times and have seen the difference the work of Rowcroft Hospice can make. This is one way in which we can support our extended family and our community in South Devon. We hope to raise £10,000 for Rowcroft Hospice over the coming year and we’re delighted to support them.”

The funds raised from the partnership with Cofton Holidays will directly sustain the vital services that Rowcroft provides. For example, a donation of £5 could pay for two nutritious hand-cooked meals for patients with life-limiting illnesses in Rowcroft’s Inpatient Unit; a donation of £15 could pay for bereavement support for a grieving son or daughter who has lost a parent; and a donation of £25 could fund an hour of care during a first home visit by a Rowcroft nurse, so they can start offering tailored specialist support to a patient and their loved ones.

Lisa Whittaker, Corporate Fundraiser , Rowcroft Hospice said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Cofton Holidays this year. As well as asking their customers for a donation at the point of booking, Cofton will be arranging a series of events to fundraise for Rowcroft. We can't wait to see what the year ahead holds! We're so grateful to Cofton for helping us to support more people with life limiting illnesses and their families in south Devon.”

 For nearly 50 years the Jeffery Family have owned Cofton Holidays. Locals can visit for the day for a relaxing session at the steam room and sauna, unwind with a swim in the heated pool or dine at Amelia’s Cafe & Restaurant. For those looking for a bit more adventure, there’s a high ropes course, pump track, pond dipping and woodland walks. The eco-friendly site also offers lodges, cottages, caravans and camping so guests can make a weekend of it or have a midweek staycation and get a dose of the countryside all through the Winter. The site celebrates the Devon countryside, offering guests a stay amongst nature, a short hop to the famous South West Coast Path and Devon’s peaceful beaches.
