Devon-based business launches 24 hour disco bike-a-thon fundraiser
The Positive Birth Company has announced an ambitious fundraising event for Tommy’s baby charity later this month which will see the team complete a 24 hour disco bike-a-thon relay at their HQ near Totnes.
Live streaming the entire event on their YouTube channel to more than 80,000 people, the company will be taking it in turns to complete shifts on a Peloton bike situated in their headquarters at Berry Pomeroy, while simultaneously having a disco to keep morale up throughout the 24 hour stint.
So far this year The Positive Birth Company has donated £6,737 from sales of their digital prenatal, antenatal and postnatal courses to Tommy’s, their charity partner. This will help fund ground-breaking research and support that will help save babies lives. Now the team has pledged to take it a step further, taking on a gruelling fundraising challenge, asking their community to pledge support and donations for the event.
The whole event will be live streamed on The Positive Birth Company’s YouTube channel, with the audience able to ask for shout-outs, cheer the team on and see their progress in real time. The company is also asking those in their community who have experienced baby loss to make a dedication, so they can ride in the memory of the babies who are no longer with us. The team will offer to share the names of these babies on the Tommy’s T’shirts they will be wearing on the day, and have a dedication page with the babies’ names on their website.
Since 1992 when Tommy’s was founded they have opened numerous vital research centres across the UK, the Tommy’s PregnancyLine which allows families to speak directly to the charity’s midwives and their PregnancyHub which offers expert advice empowering women and birthing people to have healthier and safer pregnancies.
This knowledge is shared and implemented across the NHS so that every family can have access to the best possible care. Many of those in The Positive Birth Company community have needed this support, which is why the company is on a mission to raise as much as possible to ensure these services are always available.
Beth Peach, Head of People at The Positive Birth Company and fundraising organiser said the event was a chance for the brand to give back to a charity that had supported so many in their community. “We’re really proud to have raised so much for Tommy’s already this year, but we know we can do even more which is why we wanted to organise this event. It’s going to be tough, but we’re ready for the challenge and we know our community will really get behind us to support this amazing cause.”
