It’s not just knots for Plymouth Cubs
Cubs from Plymouth joined Cubs from across Devon last weekend to compete in the annual County Field Gun Run on Paignton sea front.
The Cubs had to race each other in timed runs, after a day of timed runs the eventual winners were a mixed team from 27th Plymouth and 3rd Ivybridge with 2nd place going to 27th Plymouth A team, who after a whole day of runs were equal on time with 6th Brittania (3rd place) and so had to have an extra run to reach the final.
Activities such as the County Field Gun Run encourage the teams to challenge each other and communicate as team whilst still having fun, Katie from the 27th Plymouth Cubs said “Taking the gun apart was really hard, but I really enjoyed the day”.
Scouting in the UK is firmly committed to co-education so boys and girls can meet the aims of Scouting through one programme. Trevor Munro, Media Development Manager for Devon Scouts said “The Cubs programme has really come up to date over the last few years. The Scout Association has launched some exciting new badges”
Scouting continues to provide adventurous, challenging and fun development opportunities for young people, regardless of religion, race, social or economic background. Find out more about Devon Scouts on our website at http://www.devonscouts.org.uk
