Chasing the Light – Lympstone to Land’s End
A collaborative art exhibition, between en plein air artist Dawn Jordan and the Seaglass Gallery, in Lympstone, will be taking place from 4th until the 14th of November.
Devon and Cornwall’s stunning coastlines, from the hidden gems of East Devon to the rugged cliffs of West Cornwall, have been captured timelessly in oils.
The exhibition will give viewers the chance to walk in Dawn Jordan’s footsteps and see through her artist eyes as she sets off on her quest to chase the light before it leaves the land and sea. Iconic locations including the red cliffs of Orcombe Point, mysterious Burgh Island, crystal clear waters of St Mawes and the dramatic cliffs of Pendeen can all be admired as they stand in their splendour.
Says Dawn: “I can sense the energy created within me and a feeling of being at one with nature, whilst working quickly, chasing the light in order to capture a moment in time.”
Charlotte: (gallery owner) said: "World events in recent years have meant that time has taken on a life of its own. Sometimes we need to slow down and take time out for ourselves, a moment to think, a moment to pause.
"Dawn’s skill at capturing the light means that we have the chance to admire and feel the benefits of her work in our own time. As the winter evenings draw in and light becomes a precious commodity, these paintings allow us to feel nature’s power - the sunrises, the sunsets, the light on the water.
"We aim to make art accessible to all and welcome everyone into our creative space where they can truly become immersed in the ‘Chasing the Light’ exhibition.
"As well as solo exhibitions, a range of artists also run art workshops in the Seaglass Gallery, all with a sense of wellbeing flowing through them.”
The exhibition ‘Chasing the Light – Lympstone to Land’s End’ opens on Friday 4th November and runs from 10.30-4 until Monday 14thNovember.
