Theatre Royal Plymouth co-productions playing in London’s West End this Christmas
Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is finishing the year, and going into 2025, on a high with two of its co-productions playing in the West End across the Christmas period. Following their world premieres at TRP earlier this year, The Devil Wears Prada and Tom Fletcher’s The Creakers are both playing in the capital throughout December, with many performances sold out across the runs.
The Devil Wears Prada, starring Vanessa Williams as Runway fashion magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, premiered at TRP in July and played throughout the summer prior to opening at London’s Dominion Theatre in October. The dazzling stage adaptation of the beloved book and film was produced with Kevin McCollum, Rocket Entertainment/David Furnish and Jamie Wilson, and features an original score by music icon, and Olivier and Tony Award winner Elton John, lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, book by Kate Wetherhead with direction & choreography by three-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell. Wowing audiences in the West End, the show recently announced it will extend its run until next October.
The Creakers was conceived by international singer-songwriter and best-selling author, Tom Fletcher (McFly), and debuted at TRP this October half term before opening at the Southbank Centre this month (THURS 19 DEC). As well as co-producing the show with imPOSSIBLE Producing, Smith & Brant Theatricals and Gavin Kalin Productions, TRP created the set, props and costumes in-house at its TR2 Production & Learning Centre. The Creakers is now playing a limited run until 05 January 2025.
James Mackenzie-Blackman, Chief Executive & Executive Producer at Theatre Royal Plymouth, said: “TRP has enjoyed a hugely successful year as producers and co-producers, not only with The Devil Wears Prada and The Creakers, but also The Artist, Outlier and Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas.
“These key productions reflect TRP’s ongoing commitment to producing large-scale, world-class, theatre. Following the success of 2024 we are exploring a number of exciting projects for the years ahead. I'm very proud of everything the organisation has accomplished this year.”
You can watch The Creakers at the Southbank Centre until 05 January 2025 while The Devil Wears Prada is playing an extended run at London’s Dominion Theatre until October 2025.
