Discover two-wheeled adventures

Saltram is hosting its first cycle festival on Saturday 4 October, from 11am to 3pm, to showcase to visitors as well as locals across Plymouth what incredible places the National Trust has to offer cyclists.

Whether you like to pootle down the track or prefer haring around bends, did you know that both Saltram and the Plym Valley have miles of traffic-free paths, mountain bike trails and beautiful scenery for families, nature lovers and cycling enthusiasts? From coastal paths to woodland and open moors – there is something for everyone.

The festival will play host to a variety of cycling organisations, including British Cycling to showcase all that is on offer.  Charlie Keene, Sports Development Officer at Saltram, said:

“In the skills area, little ones can try balance bikes with a balance-ability course; older visitors might prefer learning some tips and tricks at the Inspire BMX Showcase; while guided rides will help cyclists discover many of the fantastic routes around both National Trust sites.

“Does your bike need a bit of TLC? If so, bring it along to the Dr Bike marquee where you can have it checked over and also pick up some bike maintenance tips. Ever tried an electric bike? Dartmoor Electric Bikes will be onsite giving demonstrations and trails. Don’t have a bike? Not to worry, during the day Rockets and Rascals will be onsite with bikes to hire. Then, why not pop in to the café for some lunch or a snack before heading back out on the tracks for some more cycling fun.”
