Kick start your summer at Wembury Beach

National Trust’s Wembury Beach will be host to lots of family activities to start off the summer holidays.

On 23 July from 10am to 3pm families can come down to Wembury Beach and take part in a variety of activities such as rock pool rambling, flying a kite, or trying stream dipping.

The beach is only a 15 minute drive or short bus ride from the city centre.

The Marine Centre will be running the rock pool ramble which leaves at 2pm and lasts an hour.

There will also be more rock pool rambling on the 4 and 18 August between 11am to 1pm.

Alongside the rock pool the excellent Military Experiences will be involving children in a range of bush craft activities.

Lorna Sherriff, Area Ranger said: “Whatever the weather this summer, we want to encourage kids to play outdoors and try something new that they’ve not done before.

“Kids can tick off some of our ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾’, like checking out crazy creatures in the rock pools, making mini rafts and organising their own snail race.”

The event is free but car parking charges apply (National Trust members park for free)

For visitors who enjoy a walk the ferry to Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers is now running from Warren Point (15 minute walk from the beach) from 10am to 4pm.

Great walks, pubs and a play area for children can be found at Noss Mayo.
