After nine months of hard work, 10 very proud interns have graduated project SEARCH.

Watched by equally proud parents, the interns graduated from the project after 9 months of intensive work based training to gain diplomas in progressions.

In the last seven years more than 50 interns have graduated from the project.

The ceremony was held at Derriford Health and Leisure centre, where students and guests heard all about their experiences and time at the hospital.

Jack Cunningham, Graduate intern said: “It has boosted my confidence. I have found I had skills I didn’t realise I had.”

The project supports young adults between 18 to 24 with learning disabilities by providing a level 1 academic course alongside internships within Derriford
Hospital.

The project has a success rate of 72 percent, proving real work experience for interns to learn skills employers look for.

Chairman Richard Crompton of Plymouth Hospitals NHS trust said: “I have been here for 4 years and have had the pleasure of attending this ceremony.

“Our interns have all told such inspirational stories.”
