Appeal following Crownhill robbery

Police in Plymouth are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery in the City.

The incident occurred between 10.45pm and 11pm on Wednesday 12 March in the Crownhill area of Plymouth.

The victim, a woman, aged in her 30s got off a bus at the Little Dock bus stop on Crownhill Road and walked towards Higher St Budeaux. She crossed over the road and walked towards Crownhill Fort taking the footpath that leads to West Park.

She was then approached by a man who without warning grabbed her handbag, forcing it from her arm.

The offender then ran across the road and took a pathway that leads to Chard Barton.

The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. Her mobile phone was later found discarded in the parking area of Oakside Surgery.

The stolen handbag is black and white and rectangular in shape and contained a grey LDYC purse, a number of bank cards and medication.

Police are asking residents of the Chard Barton and Warwick Orchard areas of Honicknowle to check their gardens and bins for the handbag and contents.

In addition an unknown taxi driver came to the aid of the woman and searched for the offender, and police would like to speak to him as he may have important information.

The offender is described as being, a white man, approximately 5’ 5” in height, slim build and wearing a dark blue coat.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has any information regarding this incident or locates any of the stolen property.
