Appeal for the return of hospital equipment to chest clinic
The Chest Clinic at Derriford Hospital is appealing for the return of respiratory equipment that is no longer needed by the patient it was issued to, so it can be given to a patient who needs it.
Beverley Castell, Sister of the Chest Clinic, said: “We are looking for equipment, such as nebulisers, compressors or CPAP machines, which are no longer being used by the patients they were issued to. We would really appreciate it if these items could be returned so they can be reissued to patients who need them.
Sister Castell continues: “We know that a small number of patients keep hold of our equipment “just in case” they need it in the future. If patients have any concerns, then we would ask they raise them with their GP, hospital consultant or the clinic staff. We also lose equipment because relatives don’t know what to do with it when a patient has passed away.
“If anyone has a difficulty in returning our equipment because of a lack of transport, then we ask that they call us on 01752 437490 and we can arrange collection from them.”
The department is asking that any pieces of equipment are returned to the clinic reception desk on level 6 at Derriford between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Equipment should be returned with a note including the name of the person it was issued to so that the clinic’s records can be amended.
